About Shawn Kilgarlin

Shawn Kilgarin is a native of Louisiana. She co-owns the American Screening Corp., a leader in rapid drug, alcohol, and diagnostic tests, with her husband, Ron Kilgarin. She balances professional work, family life, creative endeavors, and charitable work.

Shawn is the Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Product Development at American Screening Corp. She specializes in the development of antibodies and conjugates.

In 2004, she and her husband started the company in her father-in-law's sunroom. After eighteen years, the company is an ISO 13485 Certified distributor of infectious disease tests, cardiac tests, rapid drug and alcohol tests, and medical supplies to the U.S., South America, Asia, Africa, Europe, and Australia. It is headquartered in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The company's core values are continuous self-improvement, integrity and ethics, and commitment. Its mission is to "deliver quality products, provide excellent customer service, support humanity, and aid in the fight against drug addiction."

Kilgarin has held a variety of positions at the company as an owner. Since 2012, she has worked as a quality management representative. She held the position of vice president of business development from January 2017 to January 2022. She managed sales representatives and assisted new customers who needed assistance with drug testing.

Kilgarin has also written books while working at A.S.C. What Parents Need to Know About Drug Testing Their Teens, a Drug Testing Dictionary, a Workplace Drug Testing Guide, and workplace safety booklets on various OSHA-regulated subjects are among the books available.
From 2014 to 2020, she also managed a Catholic bookstore. She still owns Jacob's Well Inspirational Books and Gifts in Shreveport but retired from day-to-day management in 2020. She is still very interested in promoting laminated prayer cards. Her current project is a 75-piece Roman Catholic collection that includes Fratelli Bonella's artwork as well as a prayer.

Kilgarin graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1996 with a bachelor of science in microbiology and chemistry.

Shawn Kilgarin has a family of four children. Her family life and faith have inspired many of her creative endeavors.

God's Love Letters: Overcoming Adversity, her book, explores how God's love leads to spiritual resiliency. One of the difficulties she has encountered is having a seriously ill child. She found balance and a new path forward as she faced that and other challenges. She wrote the book to encourage others who are facing adversity.

She also collaborated on the book Past Tense: 365 Daily Tools for Putting Stress Behind You - for Good! with her husband. The book offers daily solutions to stress-related reactions and draws on her experiences as a mother, scientist, and believer.

Kilgarin also enjoys painting and makes Christian art with her children. Art classes with her children have become "bonding time, no phones, just peace!!" She signs the artwork she creates with her daughter Isabella, I.K.S.K. Kilgarlin. She is also making art with her daughter Juliana.
Kilgarin is also a motivating public speaker.

Shawn Kilgarin's Christian faith is also evident in her charitable work. She donates to Holy Angels, a nonprofit organization in Shreveport that provides love, support, and empowerment to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. During the Christmas season, the Kilgarin family visited the Holy Angels campus to deliver more than 75 gifts, blessing cards, and a Merry Christmas plaque.

"Although I have been blessed with professional success and a wonderful family, I cannot imagine living a fulfilling life unless I give back to society, especially where my contribution can truly make a difference," she says. "It is an honor and privilege to support Holy Angels' tremendous work in providing compassionate care and high-quality living to people with intellectual developmental disabilities and delicate medical conditions."
Holy Angels began as a ministry of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Shreveport in 1954. The organization became an independent 501(c) (3) organization in 2006 while maintaining the same mission.
